WETLAND SCIENCE CONFERENCE

Professional Development Credit through
Ashland University

Requirements:
  1. Register and attend conference on Thursday April 4th and Friday April 5th (Saturday field trip optional) register HERE,
  2. Complete an independent homework assignment using iNaturalist.
  3. Register for Vernal Poolooza course at Ashland University either online or Thursday morning at the conference registration desk.

One hour of Ashland University continuing education credit is $180 payable directly to Ashland University HERE. This is the lowest cost possible. OWA has made this arrangement for the benefit of participants and receives no remuneration for doing so.

Assignment:

iNaturalist Logo
You must have or sign up for an iNaturalist.org account. To register, go to www.inaturalist.org/  Then, join the Ohio Vernal Pool Network project on iNaturalist https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/ohio-vernal-pool-network. If you have a smartphone, download the iNaturalist app and use it in the field. If you do not have a smartphone, use a camera and/or audio device to record and document your observations and post to your account via computer.

You must let Ray Stewart, Adjunct Instructor for this course, know your iNaturalist username. It is the only way to verify the completion of your assignment.  Email contact: ray@OHwetlands.org.


Then,

monitor a vernal pool for signs of any life forms. Post a minimum of three observations to the Ohio Vernal Pool Network project using the iNaturalist phone app or iNaturalist online to record your observations of organisms characteristic of Ohio's vernal pools. This assignment may be completed during the Saturday field trip. Include all the required ancillary data including water depth, size of vernal pool, water temperature and air temperature.
